Visitation of the Kreuzkirche congregation, Bellville, from 13-15 May 2022
The Cape Church visited our congregation from the 13th till the 15th of May this year. It was a good weekend spent with bishop Gilbert Filter, Raymond Kok and Helen Ntoampe. Our Church committee was ready for action on the Friday evening, having spent a lot of time in preparation for this weekend. The church was combed over and everything was either counted, noted or written up. We thank Christiane Duwe for her hard work in this regard, to- gether with Gisela Prüter and other members who supported them.
The Friday evening after a lovely meal we had our first discussion with the team. We shared our own experiences and thoughts regarding COVID and the time we are currently in. Questions regarding our joys and concerns came up and what does our future look like. We were trying to find out where God was taking us, and in the process to see the blessings we have and the concerns we need to address.
On Saturday members from the different ministries in the church came to speak on the ministry they are involved in. The visitation team really enjoyed this, as they could learn from our congregation and help us reflect on things we might have missed or forgotten. Helen was for example very happy to hear we have a prayer meeting on Thursday mornings and suggested we should remind and invite the congregation to this again. Urda shared news from the Kindergarten and some of her plans for the future. Her ideas of connecting the kindergarten with the congregation and St. Johannis Heim were uplifting and something to keep in mind. All of the ministries that came to share added to the fruitful conversations we were having and I believe left with an excitement about what is to come.
Something that stood out specifically was the question on the missing group. The missing group are congregation members with young children; we need to connect with them again. In this group there is a lot of potential and we’re excited to meet up with them again. The renovation of the children’s church room will help in this regard. Watch this space!
On Sunday after the service the visitation team gave short reports with feed- back on what they learned over the weekend and added something we can work towards. This was a wonderful weekend and we’re thankful for

everyone who helped and played a part in this. We are also thankful for the Cape Church and the visitation team, who took time to come and visit us. As a congregation we are in a good place and I believe there is a great deal more good to come!
