Our annual thanksgiving service (Erntedankfest) took place on Sunday the 2nd of October and was well supported.
As in previous years food products and the offerings were given to iThemba Labantu, the Lutheran Community Centre in the township of Philippi.
On behalf of the church committee we would like to thank everyone who contributed by donating non-perishable food items as well as those members who keep supporting the project on an ongoing basis. The offerings collected for the centre amounted to R6 920.
For those who do not know: iThemba maintains a pre- as well as a primary school in addition to aftercare. Assistance is also given in the form of referrals for counselling, removal to a shelter, etc. In cases of domestic violence and drug exposure assistance in the form of rehabilitation is also provided.
