Dear sisters and brothers,
I am grateful to be amongst you here in Belville. With the help of our pastor (intern) Wikus Opperman, I will be holding the office of ministry as pastor of
the Kreuzkriche until the end of this year–and perhaps beyond. My full name is Hans-Christoph Thapelo Lange. I was baptised in the ELCSA Western Diocese, Mabopane congregation, where my father served as misionary of the Hermannsburg Mission. I was confirmed at the Johannesgemeinde of the (now) NELCSA. I therefore feel at home and cherish both the traditional German services, as well as the lively African services. Initially, I studied Civil Engineering at the University of Pretoria. After working for three years in the construction industry, I made the costly decision to resign and follow the call to study a Bachelor of Theology and Philosophy at Stellenbosch University. After completing my Master’s degree (on the themes of faith and science), I served at St Martini congregation for two years as pastor (intern). Currently, I am enrolled as a doctoral student for a joint degree with Stellenbosch University and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
My wife, Shani Lange, whom I met during my Master’s degree, works at Stellenbosch University as a lecturer in Latin. We have a two-year-old daughter and a three-month-old son, who both light up our lives. I look forward to our journey together!
Ps Hans Christoph Lange
