01/01/2020 – a new day, a new month, a new year and a new decade – all wrapped up into 1 day. May 2020 be a blessed and a 20-plenty year for you all.
We, as the Church Committee, met for the first time on 14 January. One of the points of discussion was the financial situation of the Church – as always this remains a concern for us. Please keep an eye out for communications re- garding the Pledge letters and various fundraising efforts which include (but are not limited to) the Easter Bazaar, the September Bazaar, the Advent Ba- zaar and the Parsonage House Fund. We urge you to return the completed Pledge letters as soon as possible. If you can assist with any (or all) of the fundraising efforts it will be greatly appreciated – please contact the church office to provide details.
Maintenance of the various structures (the Parsonage, 27 & 33 Middle Street and Kindergarten) is ongoing – there is always something to fix somewhere. One of the bigger projects will be to replace the roof on 27 Middle Street.
In an effort to appoint a Pastor for our congregation we have requested Ernst- Günther Brunke to assist us. This will be discussed on the SGM (26/01/2020), which is after the deadline for the Newsletter submissions, so further commu- nication in this regard will follow.
A collection towards drought relief was taken during our combined (with Kraaifontein, Bellville South and the Methodists) Advent Service on 8 Decem- ber 2019. An additional collection was taken during one of the following Sun- day services. A total of R2800 will be donated towards this cause. We would like to thank everyone for their generous contribution. The combined Advent Service was a huge success and we would like to have more of these in the fu- ture.
With the ongoing load shedding, the committee is looking into acquiring an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for the phones and computers in the Church Office and a backup power system for the use of the projector and laptop during Church Services. As there are more pressing financial obliga- tions than these, they have been put on the backburner.
