Covid left some scars on our retirement village even if we have been fortunate that we did not suffer as many Covid cases as other retirement homes around us. Perhaps it is due to the vigilant reaction from our management. Our suffering was the isolation that came with the protection. We all realise it is im- portant, but it is hard, and we started questioning so many changes that have come to our village.
Before Covid we saw our village growing to double its size when Park (houses and flats) were built. We were trying to adjust to this change when Mountain View was built, (the beautiful new hall and flats) and that was all very exciting.
But then Covid locked it all away, even the coming of a new manager, we could experience little of it all. Suddenly residents started asking, what has happened to us?
Fortunately for us Pastor Walter Schwär, formerly from the Strand Street con- gregation, who retired last year, came to our rescue. He has taken it on him to guide the residents in the St Johannis Estate to adapt to all the changes. Wal- ter is one of the four Founder members on the Management Committee and through his late parents he has had close connections with and understanding for us.
We invite Kreuzkirche members to come and visit our church services every month in our new Mountain View Hall. During the week we now have a lovely up to date café, come and enjoy a cup of coffee with fresh homemade cake
