CHURCH DAY AT PHILIPPI
The day can be captured with the one word, that we wish to borrow from the German language: GEMüTLICHKEIT. What a delightful day we had! When you enter the grounds of the church you are taken out of the city into the country, with the church that stands on a slight hill with the hall next to the main parking area. Here we see visitors arriving.
To the right of the church is the cemetery with all the history locked onto the gravestones. Entering the church is another wonder of tradition and the acoustics in the church make the organ playing and singing festive.
Pastor Denner conducted the service in his individual style, reaching out to the youth and to the older traditional members. We were served communion in a quiet manner. It was good to see the many children in Sunday School and the larger group of confirmands.
We wish to thank Philippi Congregation for a memorable day.
