Freddie Kühhirt and wife Margaretha have been members of our congrega- tion since the early 1980ties. In between, they then went to Windhoek for a few years, but returned again to Bellville in January 1994.

They are, however, now planning to return to Namibia (probably Swakop- mund) at the beginning of 2020.
During their time in Bellville, Freddie was a member of the church committee for at least two terms – mostly in the capacity of maintenance of our church buildings.

Since retirement – in January 2010 – the following projects were tackled:
The replacement of the lighting in the big hall – early in 2010.
Supervising the newly purchased property at 27 Middel Street in September 2010. This involved building alterations so that half of the house could be used as an extension for the Kindergarten and the renovation of three flats in the other half of the house which are now being rented out to tenants.

The renovation of the bell tower with the installation of a safe ladder in May 2011 followed by the replacement of the three bell motors with new elec- tronically controlled motors. A technician from a German company was called out to do the installation. A great deal of fundraising and brainstorming by various congregation members was required to tackle this daunting task (kR150) but was finally completed by a ‘Glockenweihe’.

The replacement of the hall roof and repair of the church roof were done in November, 2015. This was very necessary, because with every winter, rainwa- ter leakages posed a major challenge. Again, this task was made possible by fundraising efforts against all odds – at a cost of kR90.

We are also most grateful for the willing financial support received from vari- ous congregants in this regard.
The Bellville congregation wishes the Kühhirts a wonderful new start in Na- mibia.
