And so we are almost in the middle of 2017…….goodness but this half year has flown by quickly! With winter ahead, I urge you all to keep warm and stay healthy.
Previously we mentioned that throughout the year various activities and festivities will be held to commemorate/celebrate Martin Luther. Two such events you can look forward to are:
A talk held by Felix Meylahn on 8 June 2017 at 18h30 in the church centre. “What was this monk up to?” is sort of a “beginners” guide to Luther. Snacks and a glass of wine/juice will be served from 18h00.
On 6th August 2017, the Afrikaans service at 10h15 will present an extended talk by U. Sachse on Luther’s life and hymn compositions.
In an endeavour to serve you, the congregation, better, the Church Committee has placed a Comment Box on the table in the foyer of the church. Any comments, positive and negative, will be welcomed. This can be completely anonymous, or if you prefer, you are more than welcome to add your name. If it is negative feedback and you have a solution, please feel free to add this to your comment slip. A flip chart page will also be available for comments and suggestions.
Earlier in the year the pledge letters were sent out to all. We’ve had a very poor and slow response. Please return these as soon as possible as we in the Church Committee need it for our planning – refer to pages 8 and 9 in this edition for more.
Other dates to remember and diarize:
10/06/2017 @ 09h00: Annual bazaar planning meeting. If you are not able to attend the meeting, but are willing to help in any way or form, please let the church office know as soon as possible.
30/07/2017 @ 09h00: Tri-lingual service held with, and for, the Kindergarten.
