The Finance Committee wishes to express its sincere thanks to our congregation for all financial contributions and donations, which we have received. We appreciate your assistance very much. Your support enables us to cover costs and to ensure the future of our congregation as the Church of the Cross.
As usual, we sent out our pledge forms at the beginning of the new year with the urgent appeal to have them returned to the office as soon as possible. Unfortunately only a limited number of pledge forms were returned, the larger part of our congregation did not respond. This brings us in a difficult situation; it does not allow us to properly plan the finances for the rest of the year.
You may be aware of the financial projects that were discussed with the congregation at our last Annual General Meeting. An urgent priority is the fencing off of our premises to ensure safety for our Kindergarten, as well as our staff and members of the congregation. Ongoing repairs to our buildings need immediate payments.
The most important financial question for us at present is, whether we as congregation can afford a fulltime pastor again. For this we urgently need your response. It is of utmost importance to have the financial support of our whole congregation to again ensure a fulltime pastor. Calculations have shown that we could well succeed, if all members participate. At present about half of our members react to pledge forms and/or contribute towards our church’s finances. We endeavour to motivate those that have not joined us yet, so that we can carry out the vision of our congregation to be a church of Christ in the heart of Bellville, with a fulltime pastor to guide us.
Finally, we again thank all those sincerely who support us not only with their contributions but even more with their company at our church services! We invite everybody in our congregation to maintain fellowship in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ each Sunday and to join us in prayer and praise in our Church of the Cross!
